 Plateflow Gasketed
Plate Heat Exchangers
Plate & Frame:
The Plateflow® design is relatively inexpensive, compact and
efficient, providing more heat transfer in less space requiring
one-third to one-fifth less surface area than conventional Shell &
Tube units. Their smaller size and weight help you maximize limited
space. A wide variety of plate construction materials are available,
including 304 or 316 stainless steel, Titanium, Hastelloy® , Incolloy®
, and other metals. Various connection types are available to match
the application requirements. Gasketed, semi-welded, double wall, and
free flow plates are designed to meet a wide variety of applications.

Selection Tips:
- For applications involving temperature crossing or close
temperature approach.
- Ideal for refrigerant to liquid or refrigerant to gas
applications.
- Very economical when compared to all stainless tubular
construction.
Plateflow®:
- Gasketed for low maintenance - Standard type unit with one-piece
molded gaskets
- Semi-Welded for heavy duty - For aggressive applications where
reducing the fluid’s contact with elastomers is desired
- Double Wall for protection - For that extra protection against
gasket failure
- Free Flow/ Wide Gap Plate for worry free flow - For handling
particulate up to 2mm in diameter and 5mm long
Advantages:
- Ease of disassembly for cleaning or replacement of plates.
- Efficient for applications in which a temperature cross is
present.
Limitations:
- Standards allow design pressures up to 300 psig, but higher
pressure can be addressed upon request.
- Temperature limitations of the gasket material chosen.
- Plate and gasket material must be selected for compatibility
with the fluids.
Applications: Close temperature control of fluids and heat
recovery applications.
